"I was just thrilled at that," owner Bellitti told Daily Voice Friday morning. "I never thought in my wildest dreams we'd make the final three."
HB "received the esteemed award for exemplifying what it means to be a Good Neighbor Pharmacy in its commitment to enhancing patient care and lives in local communities," according to an AmerisourceBergen press release.
Four hundred stores nationwide were nominated, Bellitti said.
HB Pharmacy, was one of three finalists, along with Madera Medical Pharmacy (California) and The Prescription Pad (Idaho).
Bellitti's father, Gaspar, opened the Ridge Road drug store in 1964. The son took over 26 years ago.
"We try to do a good job, we try to be genuine, we try to be sincere," Bellitti said. "We try and take care of the tradition my father started."
"Driven in part by his father’s ideals, John Bellitti has invested in technology solutions that enable the staff to spend more time with patients," the press release states. "Under his leadership, the pharmacy has adopted an integrated approach to patient care, operating with the core belief that a person’s health and wellness requires a collaborative effort among all healthcare practitioners."
During the voting period, Bellitti said, "It would be a tribute to my father [who died in 2009]" if HB won.
